You sign up using the linked form or by calling this number 044 585 35 25. We meet for an hour to exchange expectations and get to know each other. Here you can ask all your questions; we too will see if this task would suit you. In a group setting, we will teach you how to deal with different impairments and show you how to use wheelchairs correctly, so that you are sensitive to special needs even if you deal with a person in a wheelchair for the first time in your life. In a next step, your instructor will take you through the traffic on a VeloTixi Züri. Then you will learn how to ride our tricycles, which differ significantly from a bicycle in terms of handling - loaded and empty. Now follows a main rehearsal in alternation with another rider, accompanied by an instructor on a separate bike. You identify your strengths and your areas of learning. Your first ride with a passenger is accompanied by an instructor. Afterwards, we discuss your experience. You can repeat the rides with an instructor as many times as you think is necessary. You will then be on the road for our association as an active member and driver.

Become a driver at VeloTixi Züri and make new friends in the driver community. You drive confidently in the city of Zurich's non-motorized traffic and would like to use some of your free time for something new and exciting. You've always dreamt of inclusive, self-determined and sustainable mobility - and are open to a responsible, flexible commitment with a good dose of fun and empathy. Thanks to you, your passengers will have great new experiences - out there in nature or in the heart of our community. The exchange with the passengers enriches your everyday life - in all the particular and different ways.

We provide training, processes, good accessibility and help in the event of incidents.

Our chauffeur service takes you between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m., whatever the weather. If there is insufficient demand, we will temporarily cease operations, for example in winter. If the driving conditions are unsafe, trips will be canceled without replacement.

One-way trips, including those combined into return trips, begin or end in the municipality of Zurich. You will be transported from A to B with no breaks longer than 5 minutes during your journey.

We pick you up, and also drop you off, at your doorstep inside your building if you live independently. In the case of assisted living facilities, we pick you up and drop you off again at the lobby by the the main entrance. Please keep in mind that drivers are not allowed to help you overcome more than a single step, for instance in staircases. If you need further assistance, we kindly ask you to retain the services of assisted living organisations.

Before embarking on the journey, you will get to know your driver in a few steps: 1. The VeloTixi Züri tricycle stops and parks safely. On slopes, it parks facing the hilltop. 2. The driver checks that the front and rear parking brakes are tightened. 3. The driver gets off and greets the passenger. 4. The journey route and its characteristics are discussed. The passenger decides to board and prepares as follows: 5. If necessary, the passenger transfers from a walker or an electric wheelchair to a mechanical wheelchair specially organized by the passenger. VeloTixi Züri does not loan wheelchairs to passengers. 6. The passenger puts on their own bicycle helmet. VeloTixi Züri does not loan helmets to passengers. 7. The driver and the passenger check together that the passenger is sitting properly in the wheelchair and feeling comfortable. 8. With new passengers, the driver always puts a chest strap around the passenger. We always carry a loaner chest strap with us, but for hygiene reasons we recommend that you get your own chest strap if you enjoyed the added stability it provided on your first ride. The passenger can now board. 9. With the passenger's permission, the driver takes control of the wheelchair, releases the brakes and reverses the wheelchair towards the ramp. 10. The passenger is pushed backwards onto the ramp by the driver. 11. As the weight's position on the ramp shifts, it quickly rotates backwards by 15° and latches into a safe driving position with a loud, metallic sound. 12. The front wheelchair brakes on either side are applied. 13. The wheelchair is fixed to the tricycle with three inbuilt straps. 14. The front wheelchair brakes are released and, if possible, the three tensioning belts are tightened even more using the three ratchets. 15. The front wheelchair brakes are applied again. 16. The passenger is then attached to the tricycle with a 2-point safety belt. This happens regardless of whether you are already attached to the wheelchair with the wheelchair's own belt and even if you are additionally wearing a chest belt. 17. The driver makes sure that our passenger and all luggage brought with them is now securely fastened or loaded onto additional bicycles in your traveling party. 18. The driver inquires about the passenger's well-being and asks them if they should start the journey. From this point on, the driver needs to focus on road traffic. Talking to the passenger may be possible, or it may prove distracting. It is conceivable that the passenger carries music speakers with them and plays music via Bluetooth while driving. Even when wearing headphones, the obligation to wear a helmet in our association regulations must still be taken into account. Disembarking is done in reverse order: Safe stopping 19. The tricycle stops safely and parks. It is parked on the slope facing the hilltop. 20. The front and rear parking brakes are applied. The driver gets out. The passenger expresses their wish to get off at this location. 21. We double-check that the front wheelchair brakes have remained on throughout the journey. 22. The 2-point safety belt on the tricycle is unfastened. 23. The three straps are unhooked from the wheelchair and retract. 24. The ramp is unlocked using a lever, but remains in a horizontal position due to the wheelchair position. 25. The driver releases the wheelchair brakes and holds the wheelchair with both hands. 26. The driver presses on the ramp with one foot, causing it to rotate forward. 27. The driver walks backwards and steers the wheelchair as it slowly glides down the ramp. Having gotten off the tricycle, the passenger or an accompanying person can take control of the wheelchair, or the driver can push the wheelchair to the apartment door or the lobby / main entrance of a assisted living home. Yes, we would like to ask passengers to bring their own wheelchair for the ride, because VeloTixi does not provide wheelchairs. Your wheelchair may be a maximum of 72 cm wide; Passenger and wheelchair may weigh a combined 200 kg.

In such a case, it certainly makes sense to take precautions. Essentially, as always, you sit in your wheelchair and are tied to the vehicle with a two-point seat belt. Your wheelchair is tied to the vehicle with three straps. Nevertheless, in exceptional cases the accelerations can be much stronger than in everyday life - for example when braking hard - so that you tilt forward with your upper body and hit your head on your knees. In addition to being secured with a seat belt, we therefore recommend that all passengers use a positioning aid on the first journey - for example a chest strap, which is tightened around your upper body and the wheelchair so that they are fastened together. Every VeloTixi Züri vehicle comes with a chest strap, so you don't have to buy one before your very first ride. A passenger usually notices during the first journey whether the tilting movement of the wheelchair ramp and the movements in road traffic are compensated for by the muscles of the upper body or not. After the first ride, you can decide to purchase your own customized positioning aid and take it with you.

Overview Association VeloTixi Züri is insured for liability, comprehensive traffic insurance and legal expenses. These insurances apply to the statutory activities of our active members only. All accompanying persons on their own bicycles are therefore not covered by our insurance. Claims processing Report damage to our head office as soon as possible - by phone, email or post. We will record and process the case. Accident insurance is the responsibility of the passenger and accompanying persons Our active members (passengers and drivers) are NOT insured by the association against accidents or their consequences. When registering as an active member, proof of accident insurance is therefore required - for example an accident policy according to the compulsory health coverage KVG or a proof of insurance of employer-provided recreational accident insurance UVG NBU. As an active member, you undertake to only use the transport service for as long as you are insured against accidents. We have not given up the search for comprehensive accident insurance for all our members, but unfortunately the search is proving difficult. Coverage gaps in health and accident insurance In particular, the obligatory KVG when not supplemented with private insurance VVG, has severe gaps when it comes to covering search & rescue, daily sickness allowances and care or assistance services. Affected policyholders can unexpectedly be left with a share of the costs or no coverage at all. For example, reimbursements for rescue operations are insured with the KVG at a rate of 50% of the cost up to a certain annual cap; depending on the incident, or after a series of incidents, this annual amount is quickly exceeded. The accident insurance UVG covers all rescue costs after accidents, but none of those for illness - meaning either your supplementary insurance VVG is required or the compulsory KVG covers half the costs up to the maximum cap. It is recommended that all passengers and accompanying persons, including home employees, check their insurance coverage (KVG, VVG, UVG, others). Roadside Assistance If you break down with a bicycle or a slow e-bike up to 25 km/h, you can load your bicycle onto public transport to bring it home. Please note that fast e-bikes up to 45 kmh - so called "S-Pedelecs" - are prohibited from transport in public transit. Here it is advisable to check whether your existing insurance policies include roadside assistance so that you can have your vehicle brought to your place of residence or repaired as a companion. Patronage does not guarantee a payout In principle, there is nothing wrong with becoming a patron of a search & rescue organization. But some of our passengers depend on a fixed income and insurance benefits and must be able to rely on an insurance company actually paying out in the event of a claim. A patronage is not an insurance, the payment is not contractually agreed with them. Anyone who is only insured against illness and accidents through KVG, or who is provided UVG by their employer but with no additional VVG rescue supplement for illness, should therefore think ahead of rescue and repatriation insurance. Individual premiums for search & rescue insurance start at 40 francs a year - exactly the same amount as some patronage fees. Family premiums start at 86 francs, which is slightly more than some family patronages.

Yes, you must be an active member with us to use this ride service. Membership fee for 2023 will be waived for all active members. With a membership, you decide for yourself where VeloTixi Züri will go in the long term.

The safety of our trips is paramount. For this reason, VeloTixi Züri determines the route for your journey from A to B in advance and does not take any sights or landmarks into account. When accompanied, VeloTixi Züri drives ahead of the group of cyclists.

Yes, of course. Minors must be accompanied by a caregiver on their own bike throughout the journey. For the safety of your child, all reference persons will be communicated to us and recorded by us when you book a ride. This includes adults or minors who have to follow a VeloTixi tricycle in traffic. Only one reference person is required for several VeloTixis at the same time if each of the VeloTixis is traveling the same route in a group at the same time. It doesn't matter whether the trip was organized by a home or by a private individual. As long as all passengers are members and as long as all legal guardians agree with the reference person, the conditions for a ride are met.

Tours begin and end at the same desired address in the city of Zurich. You drive a previously discussed route and can interrupt your journey several times. In the case of a longer break of more than 2 hours, it is advisable to book two single journeys so that the vehicle is released.

We drive wheelchair users with our own vehicles. For people who prefer to switch to a rickshaw, we collaborate with a partner association and carry out combined group trips.

Yes, passengers and drivers are bound by our rules to wear helmets. To ensure optimal safety, we would like to ask you to bring your own suitable helmet. If you are unable to wear a helmet for health reasons, we ask that you request a corresponding certificate.

VeloTixi Züri offers a transport service for people with permanent mobility impairments in the municipality of Zurich. We operate one-way and round trips for adults and accompanied minors.

You will receive a travel plan from us the day before the booked trip. This includes the route and a list of places of interest on the proposed route. We adhere to general wishes that you express when booking. "I would like to be in nature" / "I would like to go to the lake" / "I would like to see X and Y and take a break at Z" / "I would like to drive on road B" / "Can we please avoid roads with 50 kph speed limits?". With the itinerary on hand, you are inspired and can discuss your wishes with the driver before beginning your journey. Ultimately, however, the driver always decides where to go. This is due to training, traffic volume, construction work, planned future trips or other influences. We ask you to respect the driver's decision.

Single, return and round trips can be booked. You can currently book your rides well in advance. We also organize short-term, spontaneous excursions if we manage to mobilize drivers at short notice.

You need the following for a ride with VeloTixi Züri: A - Your mechanical wheelchair with working front brakes. Unfortunately, we cannot lend you a mechanical wheelchair because our tricycles sometimes have several rides in a row. B - your own bike helmet (optional) We bring helmets for our passengers to wear. In particular, many minors do not yet have their own helmets. C - Your own chest strap if you have decided to always travel with a positioning aid (optional) You can borrow the VeloTixi Züri chest strap for your first ride, especially if you want to find out whether you could do without it. VeloTixi Züri also recommends using a chest strap after your first ride to better support your upper body. D - You may need good shoes on cool or windy days. On wet days you can put on your usual rain protection. For strong winds, each wheelchair bike carries a warm blanket for you. In the event of a downpour during the bike ride, each wheelchair bike carries a large rain poncho for you. Our drivers put this over your existing clothing and the wheelchair so that you and the seat cushion stay dry. E - All other travel essentials to face the elements and duration of your trip. For example, a bottle filled with water is recommended for excursions into nature.

In general, we recommend weatherproof clothing appropriate to the temperature, a water bottle and any snacks in between. Sunscreen is also recommended in summer. The passenger always brings a mechanical wheelchair with him, because VeloTixi does not provide wheelchairs. Your wheelchair may be a maximum of 72 cm wide; Passenger and wheelchair together may weigh up to 200 kg. When it comes to clothing, we recommend a windproof jacket and shoes or a warm blanket - bring the latter with you on every bike. If necessary, you should take your own chest strap. Passengers are required to wear helmets. We bring rental helmets in children's sizes with a head circumference of up to 63 cm. If you are unable to wear a helmet for health reasons, please let us know as part of the initial medical assessment. There is no guarantee that bags of all sizes will fit on the tricycle. Each vehicle has two panniers on the rear wheel, which our drivers can use for their own purposes. This includes a rental poncho for the passenger as well as a rental chest strap, a warm blanket and personal effects for the driver.

In the event that a journey has to be cancelled, VeloTixi is not liable for the costs incurred as a result.

The drivers at VeloTixi Züri determine the route, the driving speed and even lane alignment throughout the route. The reason for this is that certain sections of the route have to be ridden differently with special bicycles than with a standard bicycle. Our drivers are trained to always drive first on group excursions. Special bikes are very slow in curves, so the group follows them slowly. Technically-related shifting properties of the very heavy companions also require us to shift gears with foresight.

It depends how. A dog cannot be transported with you on the tricycle as we cannot secure it to the vehicle. Furthermore, the vehicles are not approved for companion animals. Unfortunately, we cannot transport you if your dog follows the tricycle on a leash. Your guide dog is very welcome to be taken along by your companion or transported in a bicycle dog trailer. If there is demand, we can consider purchasing a club dog trailer. Please actively inform us about your needs.

VeloTixi Züri vehicles are handed over to trained drivers by the driving service. Only they are authorized to operate or steer the vehicle. Therefore, unfortunately, we cannot lend you any of the vehicles, like when you usually lend a bike or car.However, there is nothing to prevent you from registering as a driver for training with VeloTixi Züri and primarily driving shifts with your own relatives. The detailed training is highly recommended due to the vehicle characteristics and gives you a secure feeling in handling the vehicles.

In 2022 and 2023, all trips are free of charge, no matter how long they take, how far they lead or how steep the path. Our priority for these two years is to increase awareness of the ride service.

In 2022 and 2023, the amount will be waived for all active members so that financial considerations will not be an obstacle to membership. The trips are also free in these two years. It is possible that we will still ask you about a fair and affordable price model and thus jointly determine future cost sharing.

VeloTixi Züri transports people in wheelchairs exclusively on light motorized bicycles. According to VTS Art. 18b, a light motorized bicycle is a vehicle with an electric drive, a total engine power of a maximum of 0.50 kW, a design-related maximum speed of a maximum of 20 km/h and any pedal assistance, which is up to a maximum of 25 km/h works, and in our case it is specially designed for carrying an impaired person in accordance with point 2. In this context, there is no obligation for type approval and these vehicles drive without a license plate. This means that they are on an equal footing with other e-bikes without a license plate - they can be ridden on cycle paths, in mixed zones and on suitable hiking trails.

The manufacturer only stipulates the transport of mechanical wheelchairs. We transport mechanical wheelchairs with the following characteristics: Track width up to 72cm. Combined weight up to 200kg. Powered wheelchairs can affect ramp rotation due to their weight distribution and induce forces on components that the manufacturer has not considered. Also, the geometry of the ramp is not compatible with the presence of front or rear castors on some electric wheelchairs.Mechanical wheelchair chairs with individual electrical components, which are not used for the drive, often have a similarly light construction as manual wheelchairs. Experience has shown that they can be transported - but please let us know if you have a walking aid.

VeloTixi Züri is a not-for-profit association which carries out a study and operates a transport service for this purpose. We do not advise on vehicles and we do not allow you to carry out test drives with our vehicles. Evaluations carried out as a project will be published in an operational manual by the end of 2023.

VeloTixi Züri fährt viermal das Modell VeloPlus in 3. Generation der Marke Van Raam. Das Fahrzeug wird mit einer Gebrauchsanweisung geliefert. Die Abmessungen sind 253cm lang und 110cm breit. Das Fahrrad wiegt in unserem Fall 74 kg, das maximal zulässige Gewicht bei unseren verstärkten Rahmen liegt bei 200 kg für Fahrgast + Rollstuhl sowie bei zusätzlichen 110 kg für unsere Fahrer:in. Weiterhin können wir die Gepäckträger mit bis zu 20 kg beladen. Somit sind unsere Fahrzeuge mit bis zu 394 kg unterwegs.

Entsprechend der Konformitätserklärung des Herstellers handelt es sich bei diesem Fahrzeug um ein Therapie-Dreirad. Das Fahrzeug inklusive Motor sind als Medizinprodukt 1. Klasse mit keinem oder geringen Risiko auf den Körper eingestuft; dies ist die tiefstmögliche Klassifizierung bei Medizinprodukten.
